These are proving increasingly popular with schools. Creating a Prayer Space in Schools enables children and young people to explore faith and spirituality from a broadly Christian perspective in a safe, creative and interacitve way. Each activity is in a different area to give privacy. We create a darkened area, trim with fairy lights and material to soften and create a peaceful atmosphere and there is quiet music playing in the background.
A QUESTION WALL - "IF YOU COULD ASK GOD ONE QUESTION, WHAT WOULD IT BE?"
An outside Prayer Space has a very different feel to when we are inside. Not necessarily quiet and contemplative, there is the sound of the birds singing, children in a nearby classroom, the breeze rustling throught the trees. As it was almost time for their move up to high school, the children were asked to think about the people who had left an impression on their lives and also what impression they themselves might leave on others.
After visiting the prayer space I felt a lot better about myself. It has helped me.
I enjoyed the sand tray because it showed me that I can make a new start and a good impression..
The pebble (forgiveness) was great because you get to let go of all the bad feelings.
